Shift dresses which fall from the shoulders are gathered at the natural waistline with a belt or sash. Petticoat dresses are short enough to reveal their embroidered underskirts. The length of skirts is about 40 cm from the ground. Very full skirts are not very popular at this time, most of them being straight or just slightly flared. Pleats, however, are popular. The skirts are close fitting to the hips with fitted waists which could have a waistband.

In the recent years styles become more severe with wider, padded shoulders to give a square look; French fashions are beginning to be less of an influence. Longer upswept hairstyles become popular and there is a marked improvement in make-up. Darker face powders and matching nail varnish and lipstick become available.

Jacket styles in 2011 do not vary a great deal from the previous period. They can be single- or double-breasted and have hip pockets, two breast pockets inside and an inside ticket pocket at hip level. There are generally three buttons at the slit cuffs. Waistcoats, when worn, were generally single-breasted, with two pockets either side, one at the breast, and another at the base.
